Lavrov to talk economic ties in Turkmenistan

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is due to take up prospects for boosting economic cooperation with Turkmenistan, the ITAR-TASS news agency reports with reference to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s official spokesman Andrei Nesterenko. Lavrov’s visit’s agenda features a meeting with the republic’s President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov. The two countries’ partnership is based on gas cooperation. Turkmenistan is a CIS biggest gas producer and exporter, second only to Russia.
