CSTO's forces to take part in UN's peacekeeping operations

The armed forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will take part in peacekeeping operations of the UN. The relevant statement was made in the UN headquarters in New York after the registration of the agreement on CSTO's peacekeeping operations. The agreement was signed by the heads of CSTO's member-states at a summit in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe in October 2007.

CSTO's members are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The organization's tasks are to repel military aggression, to fight international terrorism, extremism and drug traffic, as well as joint liquidation the consequences of emergency situations.
