Riga police on alert over SS-veterans' parade
| Mar 16, 2010 14:41 Moscow Time |
Police in Riga, the capital of Latvia, have been put on alert for possible riots as former legionaries of the Waffen SS division are preparing to parade across the city. Earlier, Riga’s Administrative Court overruled the City Hall’s decision to cancel the parade. Meanwhile, Latvia’s anti-fascists are staging their own march and have threatened to pelt the former SS-men with tomatoes and eggs. Interior Minister Linda Murniece has said that violations of public order will in no case be tolerated.
