The US missile shield plans were not discussed either in the parliament or in the government of Bulgaria, the Speaker of the country’s Parliament, Tsetska Tsacheva, said during a meeting with her Russian counterpart Boris Gryzlov in Moscow. Tsacheva said Bulgaria was mentioned in relation to the US missile plans in the mass media after NATO had unveiled the idea for the first time. Boris Gryzlov told his counterpart that Russia will not ratify a new version of the strategic arms reduction treaty with the US unless Washington pays due attention to the correlation between strategic offensive arms and anti-missile defense systems.
