Russia is due to hand over to Vietnam a draft intergovernmental agreement on nuclear cooperation next week, says the Head of the Rosatom Corporation Sergei Kiriyenko. He was speaking at a news briefing following his meeting with the Vietnamese delegation in Moscow. He said that the parties to the talks had reached agreement both on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Vietnam, and on building a nuclear research centre. Russia will, besides, help Vietnam train personnel for the nuclear power industry, Kiriyenko said. The chief Vietnamese delegate, Deputy Prime Minister Nguen Thien Nhan reiterated, for his part, the plan to invite Russia to build Vietnam’s first nuclear power plant. Vietnam made the decision to that end in December last year.
