The chief Palestinian delegate to the talks with Israel Sayeb Erekat has postponed his visit to Moscow over the involved situation around Jerusalem, the site of major clashes between Palestinians and Israelis on Tuesday. Both sides are said to have suffered in the clashes. According to earlier plans, Erekat was to have brought to Moscow a message from the Palestinian Autonomy President Mahmoud Abbas, giving reasons for the Palestinians’ refusal to resume the dialogue with Israel. A source in the Palestinian Administration says that the message has been sent to Moscow in a different way. The message addresses Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who are due to meet in the Russian capital this coming Friday to discuss the situation in the Middle East. Palestinians have refused to resume talks with Israel following the Jewish State’s recent decision to build another 1,600 homes in the Arab part of Jerusalem.
