Runet, or the Russian web segment, has announced a contest for on-line journalists and bloggers. They are asked to submit their publications, covering the following topics: "The Freedom of Choice - Freedom?", "The State for Citizens or Citizens for the State", and "Exchange for the Sake of Change".
Today the Internet-publications and blogs provide information and entertainment, and are becoming an open platform for the expression of various points of view. The bloggersphere is becoming a means for the expression of public opinion, a member of the jury of the Runet contest, Natalya Loseva, the Director of the Internet-projects of the "RIA Novosti" news agency, says:
"We regard the bloggersphere today not only as a transient and instantaneous instrument to measure the interests of the given audience. We see how the bloggersphere, to put it figuratively, is "turning over the world" and how Russia's bloggersphere is building a civic society".
And it is exactly thanks to the active position of the Internet community that many events become known to the world public. And the government has to react to these facts, the head of the office of the Spanish news agency EFE in Russia Miguel Bas has absolute certainty on that score. By the way, Miguel Bas worked for many years at the Voice of Russia radio:
"It would be much better if we start comparing the bloggersphere with Solaris. It is something very huge. Something mighty and free. And the main thing is that the more we learn about it, the more we admire it. Meaning its possible influence. There's no doubt that the bloggersphere is setting certain moral parameters. We can say now that all attempts to use it for PR purposes proved a failure. This happened in many countries. I think that this contest will present great interest".
Those in Russia who would like to take part in it should be registered on the site http://www.europlanet.ru/. The works in the two nominations - "On-Line Journalist" and "Blogger" will be assessed by a competent jury. The jurors will name one winner and 2 laureates in each of the two categories. And the users themselves will choose by open voting the candidate for "The Prize of Readers' Sympathies". The awarding ceremony will take place in Moscow in late June. The organizers of the project - the EU office in Russia and the Russian news agency "RIA Novosti" promise to arrange the winners a 5-day trip to Brussels and work on a trial basis at the "RIA Novosti" news agency.
