Georgian opposition protest against TV hoax
| Mar 17, 2010 16:25 Moscow Time |
Opposition youth activists have held a protest rally in front of the offices of the “Imedi” Television Company in the Georgian capital Tbilisi. The protesters demanded that the authorities open a criminal case against the Company in the wake of its Saturday spoof about an invasion of Russian forces in Georgia. According to one of the organizers, David Patsatsia, “Imedi” has become a terrorist organization whose activities disturb peace and stability in Georgia. The recent hoax sowed panic, caused numerous first-aid calls and heart strokes and was described in Russia and the West as a cold-blooded provocation.
