Russia has urged the Palestinians and Israel to find ways to end the Jerusalem strife and resume talks towards a solution that complies with international law. Appearing in Moscow Wednesday, the diplomatic spokesman Andrei Nesterenko reiterated calls to refrain from steps that pre-empt agreements on Jerusalem or a final status for the Palestinians. The latest unrest was triggered by the Israeli decision to build 16 hundred more Jewish homes and re-open a rebuilt synagogue in Arab East Jerusalem. Several police and demonstrators were injured on Tuesday, dozens of Palestinian protesters are being held.
