Vice Admiral Viktor Maksymov has been appointed a new commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Navy to replace Ihor Tenuykh who was dismissed under a decree signed by President Viktor Yanukovich. During Georgia’s attack on South Ossetia in August 2008, Tenuykh ordered Ukrainian ships to prevent Russian warships, participating in an operation to force the aggressor to accept peace, from entering the port of Sevastopol.
