Ex-Georgian president Eduard Shevardnadze is positive about the visits of Georgian opposition leaders to Moscow in an attempt to restore good relations between Georgia and Russia. In an interview to Rezonansi newspaper he said: "I am not a supporter of Nogaidely (former Georgian Prime Minister) or Burdzhanadze (ex-speaker of the Georgian parliament). But if someone acts right we should appreciate it". Shevardnadze condemned the fake news on a Russian invasion to Georgia broadcast by the Imedi TV channel on March 13. He said that it was the governmnet's intimidation of its own nation. He said that this program unfortunately proved the words of Russian President Dmitri Medvedev who said that he would not talk with Mikhail Saakashvili. Shevardnadze was Georgia's President from 1995 to 2003.
