The US and Russian delegations are at the last stage of working out the new START Treaty, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after negotiations with the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Lavrov said the parties are satisfied with the work done and noted that the presidents personally control the process. Russia and the US have been discussing the new START since the summer of 2009. The previous one expired December 5th, 2009. Still, controversies concerning control mechanisms and mutual inspections remained.
