Nigeria recalls Libya ambassador

Nigeria has recalled its ambassador to Libya after that nation's leader, Muammar Gaddafi, caused an uproar suggesting that Nigeria be split into two countries, one Muslim and one Christian. The Libyan leader floated the controversial idea in bid to end sectarian violence in the oil-rich West African nation whose 140 million population is almost evenly divided between mostly Muslims in the northern part of the country and mostly Christians in the south. At least 500 people died this past March 7 as rival religious groups clashed in central Nigeria and more than a 300 were killed in similar bloody clashes in January.
