A man, who started shooting in the Moscow Metro subway on March 18th, turned out to be a Ministry of Internal Affairs colonel, ITAR-TASS reports, quoting a source in the Moscow law-enforcement authorities. The department is currently looking into the incident. The officer, who reportedly fired shots from a traumatic gun in of self-defense, has been temporarily suspended from his duties. A young man, who received an admonition from the colonel, squirted an aerosol spray in his face, causing the latter to use his stun-gun. But the shot missed the target and hit the leg of a girl passing by. The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes that she has no complaints against the officer, who promised to redress the damage. The colonel, who is currently in a hospital with eye burns, had the necessary firearm permit.
