Another Georgian citizen has died of a stroke after watching the Imedi TV channel’s fake news report last Saturday on an alleged invasion of Georgia by Russian troops. The 75-year old Vano Nasaridze made his home in Tbilisi and was a refugee from Sukhum. He was rushed to hospital and underwent surgery, only to live for a few more days. According to earlier reports, the fake news was the cause of the death of a 50-year old resident of a Georgian village, who cried before dying: “What the hell’s going on?”. The private TV channel Imedi broadcast a staged report on Saturday whereby President Mikhail Saakashvili had been killed, and Russian troops had invaded Georgia. The channel did tell the audience in a brief phrase prior to and after the report that the news was a fake, but nobody paid attention, overwhelmed by shock. The broadcast sparked off outrage in Georgia and elsewhere.
