The Thai opposition, pressing for Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva’s resignation for a week now, has agreed to hold talks with the Cabinet leader on condition that parliament be dissolved. The opposition has been holding its many thousand-strong protests in the historical part of the capital city Bangkok since last Friday. Taking part are supporters of the former Prime Minister Taksin Chinawat. He was overthrown in 2006, makes his home abroad, and is wanted on charges of corruption and abusive exercise of power.
