Gorbachev unveils perestroika memoirs

The last Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has marked the 25th anniversary of his coming to power by unveiling a book of documentation and memoirs about his perestroika era between 1985 and 91. The volume consists of over 900 pages. It is full of Gorbachev speeches at the time, printouts of his conversations with world leaders and minutes of his Politburo sessions. The Soviet ex-President says his perestroika was in response to popular aspirations and hopes in the 1980s.
