Israel is being forced to artificially accept a model for resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Israel's Foreign Minister Avidogor Liberman said Friday. This is how he responded to the appeal of the international Quartet of Middle East peace mediators.
On Friday the international Quartet of Middle East peace mediators met in Moscow. Speaking for the Quartet, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged Israel to freeze all settlement activity, including natural growth, dismantle outposts erected since March 2001 and to refrain from demolitions and evictions in East Jerusalem. The UN General Secretary and the Foreign Ministers of Russia, EU, and the US called on Israel to start indirect talks with Palestine and gradually to convert transfer them into a dialogue. In two years the dialogue should result in the settlement of the conflict.
