There is no political background in the case of Robert Rantala, Russia's Presidential Ombudsman Pavel Astakhov told a press conference Friday. He also said that the parents of the boy have signed a plan which contains 12 clauses and Finnish welfare authorities will have control over its implementation. 7-year-old Robert Rantala, who has dual Russian-Finnish citizenship, was taken away from his parents in early February on suspicion of being a victim of child abuse. The Finnish welfare authorities initiated the case on depriving Russian mother Inga Rantalla and Finnish father Veli-Pekki Rantalla of their parental rights. On March 15, the boy fled from the child care facility he was placed in to his parents. The settlement of the conflict was ordered to be carried out by the ombudsmen of the two countries.
