Scientists report the arrival of astronomical spring. Today, March 20, is Vernal Equinox Day. "At the moment of the equinox, the center of the Sun in its visible motion on the ecliptic crosses the celestial equator. At the same time the length of day exceeds length of night and amounts to 12 hours 12 minutes", Director of the Institute of Applied Astronomy, RAS Corresponding Member Andrei Finkelstein told Itar-Tass. The transition of the Sun from the Southern Hemisphere into the Northern occurs at about eight thirty pm Moscow time. The arrival of spring in Russia is also linked with transition to daylight saving time – on the night of March 28th the clock will be moved one hour ahead.
