Vitaly Petrov, the only Russian driver in the Formula One Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, skidded off the track on lap 10 after losing control of his Renault on one of the curves. Earlier, Petrov failed the Bahrain Grand Prix event due to mechanical faults. The Melbourne Grand Prix went to McLaren’s Jenson Button. Petrov’s Renault teammate Robert Kubica of Poland came in second, followed by Ferrari’s Felipe Massa of Brazil. The seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher finished 10th.
