Quite a few exotic animals, entered into the Red Book of Endangered Species, have been found at the family estate of the former Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev in the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan. There are specifically two 18-month old bear cubs, an African ostrich, two snow leopards, three roe deer, a Tien-Shan golden eagle, two falcons, four African peacocks, Indian ducks, and Austrian white and black swans. The ITAR-TASS news agency quotes the Kyrgyz Prosecutor’s Office as saying that moves are currently being made to help the animals in question survive. Notably, Kyrgyzstan still has no state-owned zoo. Bakiyev’s house was searched in the framework of the corruption criminal cases that have been filed against the former President’s friends and close relatives.
