Russia critical on Eurostat report
| May 4, 2010 20:54 Moscow Time |
The Federal Migration Service of Russia criticized the Eurostat department of statistics for considering all Russian-speaking applicants as refugees from the Russian Federation. An official spokesman for the FMS, Konstantin Poltoranin, said that a Eurostat report saying that Russians seek asylum in the EU as frequently as Afghans is incorrect. He said that 44% of those mentioned in the report are not Russian citizens but people holding citizenship of one of the CIS countries and having a good command of Russian.
