Argentine President Cristina Fernandez Kirchner has urged the new UK Prime Minister David Cameron to resume talks over the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands (which are known in Spanish as Las Malvinas), the Buenos Aires based Clarin newspaper says. The two countries went to war in 1982 after Argentina invaded, with UK forces retaking the territory after a short but bloody conflict. The seabed around the islands is thought to contain substantial oil reserves- up to 60 billion barrels.
