Bridge over Volga closed for safety check

The authorities of Russia's city of Volgograd closed a-7 km long bridge across the Volga River late Thursday after strong fluctuation in the construction was detected, ITAR-TASS reported. The bridge which is the longest in Europe will be opened for road traffic only after a throughout security check. Until than road traffic will continue on the motor road on the dam of the Volga hydro power plant. The bridge was put into operation late October. Its construction cost 2.5 billion rubles.
