Russia ready for further talks on corvette sinking

Russia is ready for further diplomatic consultations with all parties concerned in connection with the sinking of the “Cheonan” corvette in March.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Russia takes seriously a letter sent by South Korea to the UN Security Council on June 4th in which Seoul requests the UN to consider the incident as “an armed attack from North Korea against a South Korean warship”.

Russian military experts have come back from a fact-finding mission to Seoul, and according to Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, they will need about a month to draw a final conclusion on what caused the tragedy.
