A volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia’s Far East has shown signs of intensified activity throwing clouds of smoke into the air to a height of at least 1,000 meters, seismologists said on Sunday.
They added that there was no immediate threat to the residents in the area. Located 75 kilometers north of the city of Petropalovsk-Kamchatsky, the Goreliy is one of the world’s largest active volcanoes and reaches an altitude of more than 1,800 meters.
