President Medvedev has pledged hefty financial support for the army. Addressing military school graduates, the president said the government would spare no resources to strengthen the Armed Forces and guarantee welfare to the personnel.

The purpose of the changes currently underway in the army and fleet, the president said, was to boost their potential and efficiency. If the army is to be provided with top-of-the-range weaponry and hardware, the president said, the government should upgrade training programs in military academies to supply the army with highly qualified personnel.
