Russia favours all-embracing talks on Iran

Russia is in favour of discussing all the initiatives during the talks of Iran with the six international intermediaries (five permanent UN Security Council members and Germany).

This was announced today by the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Riabkov. In his words, besides discussing the Iranian nuclear problem, it is necessary to consider all Iran’s initiatives including the counter-package formulated in 2008 and confirmed in 2009.

The Russian diplomat expressed conviction that the sooner the dialogue with Tehran begins the  more chances of success there are.

The situation around the Iranian nuclear problem aggravated in February after Tehran announced its manufacturing of uranium enriched to 20% and potential to manufacture uranium with an even higher degree of concentration.
