Urupema, a town in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, is experiencing the lowest temperature this year - minus 7.8 degrees Celsius.
Some 20 towns and cities of the country are also suffering from unusually cold weather with temperatures falling below zero.
Hoar frost and ice on the roads can be found in rural areas, which may have been caused by the arrival of Polar air moving from the Arctic.
