The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) will send police forces to southern Kyrgyzstan, where ethnic clashes claimed hundreds of lives last month, the republic’s president Roza Otunbayeva said Friday.

She added that since the situation in the region is yet far from stable, the Kyrgyz and the Uzbek communities still fail to co-exist peacefully.

The OSCE forces comprising 50 policemen will be responsible for monitoring, consulting and training over a period of four months.
