Swiss gardener Markus Kobert has cross-pollinated apples and tomatoes.
The result is a new tom-apple fruit.
It tastes like tomatoes but grows on apple-trees.
'This is the very first red-fleshed, fine-tasting apple in the world. It has a delicious sweet and tangy taste with a hint of berries', says the spokesman for Suttons vegetables and seeds company which will be selling the new fruit.
The sales are to begin in two years.
