Duisburg renounces hosting Love Parades

The City of Duisburg has ruled to never again play host to Germany’s annual Love Parade rock festivals.

The decision follows a Saturday night stampede which left 19 people dead and over 340 injured. The crush took place in an underpass connecting two venues of this year’s parade.

The festival attracted a crowd of 14 hundred thousand, against an expected 8 hundred thousand.
