Russia sees as unacceptable the EU sanctions against Iran. The Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesman Andrei Nesterenko has said that the use of unilateral or joint moves to bring pressure to bear on Iran outside the UN Security Council framework is impermissible.

According to the Russian diplomat, this kind of action shows disdain for the principles of joint work within the P5 plus 1 group of intermediaries and undermines the efforts to reach a politico-diplomatic settlement around Iran’s nuclear programme. On Monday the EU Foreign Ministers approved some extra sanctions against Iran.
