The past decade was the hottest ever recorded, and the Earth's temperatures have been climbing steadily upward over the past 50 years.

The conclusion came in a report by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that measures global air temperatures over the oceans, sea-surface temperatures, the size of the glaciers, and so on. 

Researchers say the results are not encouraging: our planet is getting warmer.
