Talks underway to release abducted Russian pilot – official
An abducted pilot of a Russian-owned helicopter, who was on a UN peacekeeping mission earlier this month, is safe and sound, Yury Vidakas, a Sudan-based Russian diplomat told Interfax on Thursday. He added that negotiations are under way to release Yevgeny Mostovshchikov, who was kidnapped in the volatile region on July 26. Hostilities in Darfur show no signs of abating, with the death toll there already standing at more than 300,000.
