A hijacking attempt was prevented at a Moscow airport on Thursday, officials said, citing a plane en route from North Caucasus to Moscow, where an incident took place earlier in the day.

One of the passengers on board suddenly scrambled to hijack the plane, making unspecified demands.

Upon touching down at the Domodedovo airport, the hijacker was detained, with the passengers and the crew released by riot police.
