Arab League nations have endorsed a resumption of direct negotiations on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Sheikh Khamad ben Jasem al-Tani, Qatari Prime Minister said on Thursday.

He presided over a session of the Committee for the Implementation of the Arab Peace Initiative, which wrapped up in Cairo earlier in the day.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in turn, hailed the decision to give nod to direct talks, which he said will specifically focus on Israel’s settlement construction in East Jerusalem.
