Aleksander Shustov has led a Russian 1-2 in the men's high jump on Thursday as he took gold at the European Championships in Barcelona, Spain, the Associated Press reports.
26-year-old Shustov cleared 2.33 meters for his first major triumph on Thursday.
Fellow Russian Ivan Ukhov, the reigning world indoor and European indoor champion, settled for silver after managing to clear 2.31 meters.
The two medals furter increased Russia's leading count to nine with three golds already won.
Briton Martyn Bernard won bronze, his country's fourth medal in Barcelona, with a season-best leap of 2.29 meters.
