The Polish and Czech Foreign Ministers Radoslaw Sikorski and Karel Schwarzenberg have met in Warsaw to take up the deployment of the US missile defence system in their countries.

According to the Czech Foreign Minister, a US early warning center is due to be built in the Czech Republic in about a year.

Once the summit of the North Atlantic Alliance is over in Lisbon, the centre will be part of the NATO missile shield, Schwarzenberg said.

Sikorski said, for his part, that the construction of a missile defence base in Poland should get under way in 2015, in keeping with the supplement to the Polish-US treaty, and should be over in 2018.
