The abnormal heat and wildfires in Central Russia and the Urals have so far made no impact on the situation in the  Arctic and the state of permafrost there.

Experts at the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute in Moscow are certain that the smoke from the  fires will not reach the Arctic areas.

Permafrost degradation may destroy houses, roads and pipelines in the Russian North. TExperts also rule out a repetition of the record contraction of the Arctic ice layer, registered in 2007.
