Pskov hosts Transfiguration celebrations

TheKremlin in the city of Pskov (north-western Russia) hoststhe Transfiguration celebrations.

Some 2,000 believers gathered in the city'sTrinity Cathedral and near the Kremlin to watch a service conducted by thePatriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill and broadcast on special screens.

Onthis day, the government presented the Russian Orthodox Church with a XIVthcentury icon of Christ the Savior which earlier had been stored  at the Pskovmuseum.
