9 die of West Nile Virus in Greece

Nine people have died of West Nile Virus in northern Greece. According to latest reports, a total of more than 100 cases have been registered recently, mostly in the north of Greece, in Macedonia.

The virus is spread through mosquitoes.West Nile Virus causes encephalitis and meningitis in seniors, while in children and middle-aged people the virus causes a usually benign fever.
