A number of Latin American, Middle East and South East Asian nations have shown interest in buying the Russian BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.

This came in a statement in Bangalore today by the Head of the Russian-Indian BraMos Aerospace Company Sivathanu Pillai.

He was speaking during the Space Expo-2010 international exhibition of state-of-the-art space technologies, under way in Bangalore. The supersonic missile BrahMos, named after the two rivers, - India’s Brahmaputra and Russia’s Moskva River, has an effective range of 300 kilometres. Pillai also said that work is now under way to develop a hypersonic version of the BrahMos missile.
