The Social Democratic Party of North Korea and the Workers’ Party of South Korea have urged Japan to apologize for past crimes.

In a joint statement to Japanese political organizations, they reproached Tokyo for failing to apologize for horrific crimes committed in Korea.

Exactly 100 years ago, in breech of international law, Tokyo fabricated the so-called “annexation treaty” and other documents that paved the way for the Japanese occupation of Korea.

From 1910 to 1945, over 8.4 million Koreans were taken out to Japan and forced to slave labor. About a million of them died.
