North Korean leader Kim Jong-il wants to resume the six-party  nuclear talks as soon as possible, Xinhua News reported Monday. He discussed the issue during his meeting with   Chinese President Hu Jintao last Friday in the northeastern Chinese city of Changchun.

The six- party talks  feature both Koreas, China, Russia, the US and Japan. N.Korea walked out of the talks in April 2009 following the UN's condemnation of a launch of Kwangmyŏngsŏng -2 9 (the Bright Star) experimental satellite.

China admitted that Kim Jong -il unofficially visited the country from August 26 to 30.
