A court in Finland has rejected appeals by Finnish and Estonian ecologists over Nord Stream gas pipeline construction.

Activists think the pipeline which is to pass under the Baltic Sea will harm the environment.

However, the court found the grounds presented inconvincible and said that  the Nord Stream company has all the necessary permits to construct  the pipe in Finnish waters and may begin work.

Russia has already received permits from Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
