Ban on grain export to stay for now – Putin

Lifting the ban on grain export can be considered only after the 2011 harvesting, Russia's prime minister Vladimir Putin said at a governmental session on Thursday.

This summer's abnormal heat caused drought which considerably damaged crops.

On September 1, the government imposed a ban on grain export,  allowing exports only for humanitarian aid or under international treaties.
