President Dmitry Medvedev has arrived in Azerbaijan for two days of talks to focus on economic ties, cooperation in the Caspian Region, and the Nagorny Karabakh settlement.
During the visit Presdnets Medvedev and his Azeri counterpart Ilkham Aliyev will discuss oil and gas, environmental protection and investment cooperation.
They are also expected to sign a border agreement that will delimitate part of their countries' shared border and also the rational use and protection of the border river Samur.
On Thursday Dmitry Medvedev will lay a wreath at the tomb of Azerbaijan's first president Geidar Aliyev and a monument to fallen heroes before attending a state dinner given by his Azeri host.
On Friday the two leaders will hold a series of talks and sign a sheaf of bilateral accords.
