Two Palestinians were wounded in an Israeli air strike on Gaza Sunday retaliating for an earlier guerilla rocket attack on Israeli territory.  Israeli  jets  pounded a number of militant targets, including an underground tunnel used to smuggle in weapons from Egypt.

The violent exchange was the first since the start of US-sponsored direct talks in Washington between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The next round is scheduled to be held at Sharm al-Sheikh, Egypt, from September 14 through 15.
